Obesity and Weight Control

The general definition of obesity is if you are 30 percent over your ideal weight. This is where most people would like to know just what their ideal weight is of course. Your ideal weight is a subject of much hoopla to me (I’ll put my view points on this after). Most doctors involved with obesity or weight loss deem ideal weight as ” A body mass index (BMI) of 25 up to 30 kg/m2.”

Most of the obese people suffer from utter depression. This depression immediately follows low self esteem, emotional instability and mere loss of dignity. The underlying cause of such mental breakdown, of course, is the obesity. Obesity also brings many other complications at health course. There are increased risks of heart disease; diabetes; hypertension; joint deterioration; osteo arthritis, gall bladder disease etc. are very few of them which, over time, lead to severe depression.

Causes of Obesity:

They include lack of physical exercises, changing lifestyle, consumption of fast and oily foods and substances rich with fat and others. However the worst fear is that, if this trend continues, by 2025 it will be more than an epidemic. This is certainly a new disease, a disease of the 21st century. Besides, these extra pounds of flesh are also regarded as the vital sources of several diseases like heart diseases, stroke, diabetes, cancer, arthritis and hypertension. Suppressed emotions from past life events and your current emotional wellbeing have a direct impact on weight gain and the inability to maintain a healthy weight. Food is just the scapegoat used to blame our problems on it. Food does help to put on weight but it is not the direct cause for it. Read the rest of this entry »
